As far as item quality, there are no "must have" items, but the Gravy Boat and Food Coma are at least decent. They also seem to be the rarest.

Conveniently, there will not be any confusion around the release time - the promo pic specifically states that the items will go live Thursday Morning at 12:01 PST and will drop until Monday Night at 11:59 PST.

Money Laundering Guide
Vaulting the Money Laundering collection reduces the bank deposit fee from 10% to 7%. This is not a bad collection, but it's a bit underwhelming; it will only be useful in Cuba. Odds are people still won't be able to steal even 7% of your money from fighting if you have a decent amount of it, so it is better to just keep it in your inventory if you have more than around 50,000,000 (either New York or Moscow) or so.
As a boost, you can get a "Money Sock" which makes each job you do pay out 50% more (pretty weak in my opinion, even if you get 7) considering how many people you are going to have to help to get that many collection pieces in the first place.

Due to the releases of Mafia Wars Moscow, the recent upgrades to some old equipment, and the several more expansions on the horizon, it seems like it would be a good idea to maintain a running "Best Of" list to outline the best offensive and defensive weapons, armor, and vehicles in game.
Note, to qualify for the list, it must be an item that drops from jobs (job mastery items (like the cazador assault rifle, godfather points items and limited edition items like the Red Coat will be excluded from the list).
Best Offensive Weapons:
Ubijca Assault Rifle: 43 attack, 18 defense - from the "Help "Plan" The Next Attack" job (Vory Only) in Episode 5 in Moscow.
Best Defensive Weapon:

Mafia Wars Collections and Collection Loot Guide
In the facebook version of Mafia Wars, collections sets of items that drop randomly while doing jobs. Each collection is tied to a specific job tier (i.e. soldier, enforcer, hitman, etc.) and the items from each collection a chance to drop when doing jobs of the corresponding tier. When you collect a full set, you can "vault" the items (an option under the inventory tab) for a permanent stat bonus.
